Program Information

What is the NEW SoCal School of Supernatural Ministry?

The Southern California School of Supernatural Ministry (SoCal SSM) has transitioned into a new small group model. This new model allows people to go through the SoCal SSM curriculum and experience it as part of a group in a church or ministry, anywhere in the world!

What does the curriculum cover? SoCal SSM’s curriculum has been created and curated by our Director and teaching staff over the past decade. Our core subjects include walking with the Holy Spirit, identity and inheritance as a child of God, wholeness, intimacy with Christ, and being seated with Christ in Holy Spirit empowered ministries.

How is the school year structured? SoCal SSM offers two one-year programs, the second built on the first. Each year consists of two (2) 14-week semesters. In our 1st Year Program, we concentrate on walking with the Holy Spirit, identity, wholeness, and intimacy with Christ in semester one. Then, in semester two,we put more emphasis on equipping and activating ministry gifts including healing, prophesy, deliverance, evangelism and intercession.

How does the small group format work? Each week, teachings are presented by video and students process them individually and then together in a weekly group session, led by someone within their church or ministry.

The uniqueness of our new small group format is that students receive their teaching from our instructors by video to watch at home and then enjoy in-person group discussion and activation sessions. The group decides when and where to meet for their weekly meeting. To make this flexibility possible, students are given access to one semester’s curriculum at a time when they register.  Once the first semester is completed, students receive the second semester’s curriculum.

The Main Components of the SoCal SSM Program

Here is an overview of what to expect as a student:

  1. Teaching by video--two teaching videos per week.*
  2. Weekly Group Session (“family group”) each week for responding to the teachings, activating ministry skills, encountering God, and worshiping together.
  3. Assigned Reading - Each student will purchase two books: the SoCal SSM student workbook and a book called Encounter the Word: Child of God, a Scripture study that students go through individually and discuss once a month in their family group session. Our 2nd Year students have an additional assigned book, The Song of Songs, for a total of three (3) books).

*Every fourth week when students discuss a chapter in the Encounter the Word: Child of God book in family group, there is only one teaching video.

The Priorities of SoCal SSM

The SoCal SSM program assists students’ growth through three (3) priorities:

  1. Building Community
  2. Engaging Personally and as a Group with the Curriculum
  3. Encountering God

OVERVIEW:

  1. Building Community

with each other and with our teaching staff:

    • In the first three (3) weeks, there is time given in family groups for students and facilitators to share their personal stories with each other. Your first week will have short videos by each of our teaching staff sharing their stories.
    • Each week, we include one short testimony by one of our staff sharing their personal experience with God related to the current teaching in the curriculum.
    • Weekly family group sessions are a high priority. That time together is the space where you give and receive from each other and encounter God together.  Transformation happens best in community.

  1. Engaging Personally and as a Group with the Teaching

    The student workbook includes:

    • A brief weekly introduction by our Director, Christeena Kale, giving an overview of the coming week.
    • Thought-provoking questions, applications, and suggestions for making the video teachings personal. Taking time with this before family group makes the group sessions richer for growth and deep connection with God and each other. (The workbook also gives weekly assignments for going through Encounter the Word: Child of God. More on that below.)
    • A page describing what each week’s family group time will include – discussions, group application (what we call “activation”) in response to teachings, worship, and prayer.

  1. Encountering God

As students go through SoCal SSM, they experience life-transforming breakthrough in their lives through their personal encounters with God.
So, our program encourages and facilitates that in these ways:

    • We encourage personal daily worship and provide a playlist created especially to be enjoyed along with each week’s teaching.
    • In family group times, corporate worship is of highest importance, as those moments with God together carry deep significance for encountering him, receiving from him, and releasing your heart to him.
    • The book Encounter the Word: Child of God prioritizes encountering God in the Scriptures. It gives opportunities to worship (using the media option in the book) and encounter God in many ways.

A note about the core book ...

Encounter the Word: Child of God

This book is the first in a series called “Abundant” by Christeena Kale.  Its purpose is to lead students to personal encounters with God through the Scriptures.  The six chapters of the book are studied through the first year of SSM, three chapters in each semester. Each chapter is focused on one passage of scripture and provides multiple ways to engage with the truth in that scripture passage.  Students are given assignments each week for their individual study in the book and every fourth week they discuss what they’ve received, in their family group.
